Documents from abroad

What are they?

All company documents originating from abroad must be legalized in the Republic of Bulgaria in accordance with the Regulations on the Legalization, Certification and Translation of Documents and Other Papers. This means that they must be provided with all mandatory requisites from the respective countries. Thus, the translated and legalized documents can be used legitimately in Bulgarian institutions.

Important: every document must be certified by a Bulgarian notary after being translated.

When is translation and legalization necessary?

• When you intend to open a new company or a branch of a foreign company in Bulgaria;
• Before publishing an annual financial statement (AFS) in the Commercial Register;
• If you need to use the signed declarations and powers of attorney through the relevant institutions.

What should be done?

• Make sure that the document contains all the necessary details that the institutions will check at a later stage;
• It is mandatory to physically have the document in Bulgaria;
• A written translation by a translator is required;
• The translator certifies his signature before a notary.
